Stoltzfus in an old water-powered feed mill in an area just outside of Morgantown, PA known locally as Goosetown. Over the years, the company operated as Broadfall Spreaders, Willow Glen Industries and currently does business as Stoltzfus Spreaders. The first products were truck-mounted boom-style lime spreaders which were sold to other spreader truck drivers. (C.U. himself had been spreading his own ground lime, and later, for Reading Bone Fertilizer.)

Later, a 5 ton capacity tractor-drawn unit was designed and sold to fertilizer dealers. In 1968, the company was officially incorporated in Pennsylvania as C.U. Stoltzfus Mfg., Inc. with offices in Morgantown, PA. In 1978, the company introduced a new lime spreader that allowed individual farmers to buy inexpensive lime and stockpile it in their fields for spreading at a later date.

The company currently offers 15 different spreader models in regular stock, including 4 lines of salt/cinder spreaders for highway use. Stoltzfus also custom builds spreaders for sludge, cement, bentonite, seashells, recycled wallboard, etc., which have been mounted on trailers, trucks, half-tracks, barges, flotation trucks. We also make self-powered units for pickup trucks and dozers.

The company markets the Stoltzfus spreaders nationally through a network of 25 independent dealers. Spreaders have been sold from Central America to Alaska and from Hawaii to South Africa. The company is still owned by the C.U. Stoltzfus family.
